Mayfield sweeps AHS in volleyball
MAYFIELD — Mikayla Myers put up eight kills, 14 digs and two aces to help Mayfield sweep Amsterdam, 3-0, in a non-league volleyball match Thursday at Mayfield High School.
Mayfield won by scores of 25-20, 25-16 and 25-20.
Tylor Proctor added 16 digs and 13 service points for the Lady Panthers (1-1). Emily Mormando added 19 assists, two aces and eight digs, and Alis Hart also compiled eight digs.
Adriana Santiago drove home seven kills and had an ace to lead Amsterdam (0-1). The Lady Rams also got three kills from Alyssa Kuchis.
Broadalbin-Perth 10, Amsterdam 1
Devon Holz had four goals and two assists to help the Patriots bounce back from Tuesday’s loss to Schuylerville with a rout of Amsterdam.
Brady Goodemote added two goals and three assists for B-P (2-1, 1-1 Foothills), while Zachary Monks contributed two goals and two assists. Jonathan Murphy and Will Austin each had a goal and an assist and Jared Eipp chipped in with a helper for the Patriots.
Matt Murphy scored the first goal of the season for the Rams (0-2, 0-2), set up by an assist from Carlos Mendoza.
Broadalbin-Perth 165, Hudson Falls 187
Stuart Bond took medalist honors for B-P with a 38 as the Patriots kept up their perfect start to the season with a convincing win.
B-P also got rounds of 40 from Mike Piska, 42 from Matt Danise and 45 from Connor Canale to improve to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in Foothills Council matches.
Ben Swartz’s 41 led Hudson Falls.
Schuylerville 9, Broadalbin-Perth 0
Emily Vallee, Amy Moreau and Brooke Keefer all scored two goals for the Black Horses in Wednesday’s win.
Moreau added two assists and Vallee chipped in one assist for Schuylerville. Cassie Patrick added a goal and two assists, with Casandra Cooper and Emma Nesbitt adding a goal apiece.
Morgan Rossi made 22 saves for The Lady Patriots.
OESJ 2, Fort Plain 0
Ashley Engle scored an unassisted goal and Alexis Klock scored on assist from Madison Richardson to lead Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville to a non-league victory over Fort Plain.
Ashlee Shelmandine needed to make just four saves to record the shutout for OESJ (0-1, 1-1).
Rhyonn Ford tallied six saves for Fort Plain (0-0-1, 0-1-1).
OESJ 2, Canajoharie 0
Jack Brundage and Braden Frederick scored unassisted goals on either side of halftime to send the Wolfpack to the win.
Elias Sanchez made six saves to record the shutout for OESJ (2-0).
Schuylerville 176, Broadalbin-Perth 180
B-P’s Stuart Bond carded a round of 39 to earn medalist honors, but a balanced Schuylerville team handed the Patriots their first loss of the season.
Matt Danise added a round of 44 for the Patriots (6-1, 4-1 Foothills), while Mike Piska shot 48 and Logan Sweeney carded a 49.
Ben Fallos led Schuylerville’s scoring foursome with a 42, followed by Aiden Hedwig at 43, Pete Schwartz at 44 and George Olsen at 47.
