Christian Joseph Rohr
Christian Joseph Rohr died unexpectedly while hiking in Troy, New York on February 25, 2017, at the age of 25. Christian was born on All Saint’s Day, November 1, 1991, he was baptized on Pentecost, and confirmed in the Christian faith. We are confident that he is in God’s gracious care now.
Christian is survived by his father, Donald F. Rohr Jr. of Rexford, NY; and his mother, the Rev. Laurie M. Garramone of Johnstown, NY; and by his best friend and brother, Alexander Rohr, also of Rexford, NY.
Christian was a 2010 graduate of Niskayuna High School, where he was a member of the school swim team. He also swam with the Schenectady Sharks and the Woodlin Club swim teams. Christian earned his associate’s degree in business from Hudson Valley Community College in 2013 and his bachelor’s degree in business administration from SUNY Albany in 2015.
Christian was employed by The Ayco Company in Latham, NY, and he worked part time for several years at Play It Again Sports, also in Latham, NY.
Christian could always be found outside in all weather conditions. He loved hiking in the Adirondacks, downhill skiing, ice hockey and skateboarding. He was an accomplished graffiti artist, a great wordsmith, and he was enormous fun to be around. He also loved to cook and to spend time with his extended family, especially his aunts, uncles and cousins. No words can express the deep loss they feel.
Because of his interest in outdoor sports and fitness, the family requests that donations can be made in Christian’s name to the Double H Ranch which helps seriously ill children experience the magic of the Adirondacks through camping, skiing, swimming and hiking. Christian also attended Taize worship services at Oaks of Righteousness in Troy, NY where inner-city children are introduced to Christ every day. The family would especially like to thank the Troy Fire and Police Departments, the New York State Troopers, Dive Team and Rangers, and the Rensselaer Police Department and Department of Public Safety for all their work during the time of search and recovery.

Jean Lee Stoddard
Jean Lee Stoddard, 67, former Gloversville resident, passed away Monday, March 6, 2017, at her residence in Jeffersonville, Kentucky.
She was born May 1, 1949, to the late Thomas and Adelaide Raithbun Titus. She was a member of the Ascension Episcopal Church, Madison Community Band, Lexington Flute Symphony and Gateway Camera Club.
Jean is survived by her husband, Norman E. Stoddard of Jeffersonville, KY; a brother, James Titus (Mary) of LaFargeville, NY; and a sister, Roxann Larson of Oglethorpe, GA.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Roger Titus.
Interment will be at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.

Rita E. Longfritz
Rita E. Longfritz, 86, died peacefully at Langdale Hospice House on Monday, February 20, 2017.
Born in Gloversville, NY on July 21, 1930, to the late Edward and Clora (Carter) Plumadore, Rita was a part time resident of Valdosta, GA and Gloversville, NY. Rita worked as executive secretary for United Way and as a bookkeeper for John Fanch and Vrooman Engineers. She enjoyed traveling and spending time at the ACTO Alzheimer’s caregivers group. Rita was also a member of the LWML club at the Messiah Lutheran Church of Valdosta.
Survivors include her daughter, Judith Dewitt (Don) of Valdosta; granddaughter, Candi Ashdown and great-granddaughter, Alexandra of Las Vegas; granddaughter, Michelle Coehlo (Tony) of Nashville, GA; her son, Gary Longfritz (Nancy) of Debary, FL and Gloversville, NY; grandson, Frank Longfritz and great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Rose of Johnstown, NY; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Longfritz was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton, to whom she was married for 47 years.
A graveside service will be at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.

Robert D. Richards Sr.
Robert D. Richards Sr., a lifelong resident of Gloversville, passed peacefully on Thursday, May 11, at Nathan Littauer Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
The youngest of four children, “Bob” was born October 5, 1934, to Charles J. and Agnes (Brown) Richards.
Graduating from Gloversville High in 1952, Bob was celebrated as a 3-star athlete lettering in basketball, football and his favorite, baseball, boasting a tryout with the Brooklyn Dodgers after graduation. Bob continued to play fast pitch softball in area leagues and enjoyed competition as a champion hand-ball player, league bowler and darn good pitch player.
A proud American, patriot and veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict, serving overseas from 1952-1955 on the USS Ault where he was awarded the National Defense Service Ribbon, Korean Medal and United Nations Medal. Bob “circumnavigated the globe” by the age of 20.
In 1954 Bob married Joan Barthe and together raised six spirited children in the famed “North End.” Bob worked his entire career for AT&T (Western Electric), retiring after 35 years. Often, he could be found at one of the local establishments encircled with friends “solving the world’s issues…” In later years he enjoyed car rides, his lawn tractor, and telling stories of the “good ole days.”
The “Captain” is survived by his children, Karla Putman (Eric Waffle) and Lana Ruggiero (Michael) of Gloversville, Robert Jr. of Folsom, California, Jed “Clampett” of Mammoth Lakes, California, Tamie Fancher (Todd) of Meco and Adriene Cotugno (Kyle) of Mayfield; grandchildren, Brianna Hurlbut (Steve), Ryan Putman (Kayla), Karriann Ruggiero (Mark Hine), Kristi Ruggiero (Zach Cast), Robert Ruggiero (Kara Miller), Max Jonathan Richards, Vincent, Michael and Sierra Fancher, Kylie and Korey Cotugno; great-grandchildren, Michaela, Patrick, Olivia; his sister, Doris LaVallo; the mother of his kids, Joan; in-laws, Clara Albanese, Charlotte Young, Helen and Don Strathaus; and many nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his parents; siblings, Frances (John) Petrucelli, Charles (Nancy) Richards; and brother-in-law, Anthony LaVallo.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Nathan Littauer Hospital ICU, Extended Care and Sarah, along with the girls who made it possible to bring Dad home – Jennifer, Michelle, Crystal, Margie, Tessa, Becky, Sharon, and Susan.
Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.
