Dozens of area residents gathered Monday, Sept. 11, at the Broadalbin Kennyetto Fire Company in remembrance of 9/11 during the 16th annual Let Us Never Forget ceremony. The event included: a procession by the Color Guard, American Legion Post #337, bag piper Misha Murdoch, the Ladies Auxiliary BKFC, Perth Fire, Galway Fire, Berkshire Fire, Mayfield Fire, Providence Fire, and Boy Scout Troop #51; remarks by Broadalbin Mayor Larry Cornell; the lowering/raising of a ceremonial flag donated by the Pifko family; a speech by a Sen. Tedisco representative; “A Fireman’s Prayer” by BKFC Secretary/Chaplin Keith Bartholoma; tolling of the bell by BKFC’s Philip Comini; a presentation of wreaths by BKFC’s Tom Traskos and Ed Zayicek, National Guard’s Sgt. Christopher Crawford and Sgt. Robert Lyons, Fulton County Sheriff Richard Giardino, and Tedisco’s representative Jennifer Donovan; a speech by Assistant Fire Chief Archie Rose; a closing prayer by the Rev. Kathy Reese of Northville United Methodist Church; and a candle lighting by the Ladies Auxiliary.
