GLOVERSVILLE — The Gloversville Citizens Band hosted July 5 the first in a series of events held in Melchoir Park. According to Band Director Tom Gerbino, concert season features a theme he calls Mozart to Moana. In addition to classical and and concert pieces the band will perform show tunes, songs by famous bands such as the Beach Boys and theme songs. The July 5 performance had patriotic theme, which was meant to honor the troops, said Gerbino. The band performed songs such as the “National Anthem,” “Questar” by Eric Osterling, “Pleasant Moments” by Scott Joplin, the Dick Van Dyke show theme song and more. The free concerts begin at 7 p.m. and will be held Wednesdays through August 9. If there is inclement weather, the band will perform inside the Lexington Center.
