Photo Caption: TAUNY’s Annual Welcome to the North Country Open House will be held Thursday, September 14, from 5:30-7:00pm. Join us for a lively, fun-filled evening as we welcome newcomers to the area!
TAUNY, Traditional Arts in Upstate New York, invites new neighbors and old friends to meet other members of the community and find out what makes the North Country so special at TAUNY’s celebratory annual Welcome to the North Country Open House on Thursday, September 14 from 5:30-7:00pm at The TAUNY Center.
This year’s open house will feature fun activities for all ages including paddle painting with John Miller; cider pressing; tractor and farm equipment demonstrations by the 2016 North Country Heritage Award Recipient, The St. Lawrence Power and Equipment Museum; live music; and more.
Guests can enjoy a tasty selection of food from local producers and farmers. Attendees will also have a chance to explore TAUNY’s latest exhibits and meet featured artist, Ola Aldous, whose work will be on display in the Folkstore Artist Spotlight exhibit as well as collector, musician, and 2016 North Country Heritage Award Recipient, Rick Streeter, whose fiddles are on view in the current Personal Collection Series exhibit.
There will also be a raffle to win a little “tin man,” a unique piece of folk art made by Jim Hourihan (featured along with his tin men in TAUNY’s current exhibit “‘Look Down, You’ll See Our Tracks’: Raquette River Dam Stories,” though not generally available for sale) to benefit TAUNY.
All are welcome!
