4 p.m. — As part of the dedication ceremony of the Elizabeth Cady Memorial Plaque, Dr. Melinda Grube longtime interpreter of regional women’s rights will perform in costume as Elizabeth Cady Stanton and recite the Declaration of Sentiments in the Johnstown Park Bandshell. The plaque will stand in front of the Fulton County Courthouse where Stanton’s father Judge Daniel Cady practiced law. In case of rain, it will be held inside St. Johns Episcopal Church.
AUG. 17
noon — The Johnstown 50 Plus Club at the Johnstown Senior Center, 109 E. Main St., will hold a Cold Plate Luncheon in conjunction with the OFA Meal Site. Lunch will feature turkey cold plate, marinated beets, kaiser roll, mac salad and a brownie. Cost is $3 per person and reservations must be made by Aug. 15. Following lunch will be an Off to the Races event where a prize will be given for the best decorated big hat.

9 a.m.-2 p.m. — The Paul Nigra Center for Creative Arts, will hold Living Storybook Camp for children ages 5-10. Campers should bring their own lunch, snack and water bottle each day. Cost is $90 pre-registration and $110 at the door.

10 a.m.-noon — The Paul Nigra Center for Creative Arts, 2736 State Highway 30, will hold a Mommy and Me painting class for children ages four and up with instructor Ellen Lauziere. The theme for this class will be: swinging kitties. Cost is $35 pre-registration for both mother and child, $45 at door. There is a 20 percent discount with membership code at registration.

9 a.m.-2 p.m. — The Paul Nigra Center for Creative Arts, 2736 State Highway 30, will hold Little Feet Dance Camp for children ages 6-13. This camp is directed by Gretchen Salvione, owner and operator of The Dance Company. In addition to dancing, children will make props and costumes. All skill levels are welcome. Campers should bring their own lunch, snack and water bottle each day. Cost is $130 pre-registration and $150 at the door.

12:30 p.m. — The Sacandaga Task Force for Senior Living’s Red Rooster Cafe holds Bring a Friend Day. Everyone who brings a new or long missing person will receive a free lunch and so will their friend. There will be a make your own sundae and cupcake bar and a drawing for numerous door prizes. August birthday’s will also be celebrated.
