PERTH — A Broadalbin man was pronounced dead Tuesday night after his pickup truck crashed on Midline Road.
Francis A. Ryan Jr., 41, was pronounced deceased at the scene due to blunt force trauma, according to New York State Police Troop G Public Information Officer Mark J. Cepiel.
He said the accident occurred at 11:35 p.m. Ryan was driving northbound on Midline Road in a 2012 GMC pickup truck when, for an unknown reason, he failed to negotiate a curve and drove off the right shoulder of the road. The vehicle overturned multiple times, according to police.
Ryan was the operator and sole occupant of the vehicle, Cepiel said, and that he was not wearing a seat belt. Cepiel said Ryan was ejected and found outside the vehicle, which caught fire when it came to rest. He said the coroner responded and pronounced Ryan dead at the scene. He was sent to Nathan Littauer Hospital for an autopsy.
The Hagaman Volunteer Fire Department responded to the incident.
“Although we are still wrapping up the investigation, we expect no charges,” Cepiel said.
He said police will look into see if there were any mechanical issues and have some kind of toxicology report.
